Funding Success!!!!
Have you heard the good news? Our application to Viridor Credits for the funding for the equipment for the playground has been successful! We've been awarded £39,000 which means that we can go ahead with the plans and hopefully have the equipement installed ready for a Grand Opening in February 2011. We have had 849 votes from the kids at both Thomas a Becket First School and Thomas a Becket Middle School so we know the kids opinions and they have been taken into consideration before the final design decision on the equipment. A good news day!

Public Consulation Update
A big thank you to everyone who managed to get to the Public Consultation Meeting at Tarring Bowling Club last Wednesday. We had loads of feedback and positive comments. We will be talking to the kids at Thomas A Becket First and Middle Schools to get their feedback after Half Term. For those who didn't manage to get to the meeting here are some photos of the options. Remember this equipment will be in addition to the pieces currently at the park. These simulations are examples of the type of equipment that the different companies approached could produce for us, its not necessarily the exact end result.
We will be holding the next meeting 17th November (times to confirmed) with updates of progress. We are still waiting to hear the outcome of our funding application and will let you know the outcome as soon as possible.

Our Objectives
We all live locally and have children that regularly visit Tarring Recreation Ground and want to put back new play equipment to replace equipment that over the last 5 years have been removed but not so far replaced.
The remaining play equipment is ok, but not particularly challenging or exciting for our children to have fun whilst also getting exercise and growing up.
We have heard so much in the news about the financial cuts and how we should encourage our children to be healthier that we have gotten together to try and do something locally for ourselves and our children. This will result in more fun, exercise and healthier children that will socialise more and learn to play together for longer – outside in the fresh air!
We are also keen to add picnic benches to the site to encourage people to spend more time there, enabling more mixing together of parents and children and community involvement and TRAC will apply to other funders for these.
Adur and Worthing Council has agreed to work with us; William Boyd and Clive Bramble from Parks and Katie Neal, External Funding Officer have met us on site and as a group.
They have agreed to cover the work within the Council regarding permissions, acceptance once installed and the ongoing inspection and maintenance.
